CytatMany people have experienced the “broken thumbnail” problem, in which the PSE 6 Organizer shows the broken-thumbnail icon for many or most of their raw files. Sometimes the Organizer never succeeds in generating the raw-file thumbnails; sometimes the broken icons appear after minutes or hours of use; and sometimes the Organizer crashes or stops responding. Regenerating the thumbnails can fix the problem temporarily, but the broken icons usually come back soon.
This problem appears to be caused by using a machine with multiple processors, typically a newer machine with a hyper-threaded or multi-core CPU. Though most new computers have multiple processors, it seems Adobe never tested raw files on them.
CytatIf it were some obscure rarely used function I would not bother too much, but using RAW on a multi-processor machine is pretty much standard stuff and it really should work.
I spoke with Adobe customer services on Thursday regarding this. They tell me they cannot help! They tell me I need technical support. I in turn have told them I don't. The user community has provided the only technical support forthcoming. As far as I am concerned the fault is identified, easily reproducible and in need of a proper fix. This is now a customer service issue.
